Solar power in Sunamganj Haor area
Saha's article on the subject in your 'Business page' on 21st July has drawn our attention. According to the write-up, the beneficiaries will get power during sunny days.
We all know that solar power is available only when there is adequate sunlight, during the daylight. However, when sunlight is reduced or cut off due to clouds or heavy rains in monsoons, solar power generation stops or is drastically reduced.
Usually, battery backup is provided that can give power to the system (perhaps at minimum levels), and in daylight when power demand (lighting load) is reduced, the batteries are charged. There was no mention of this option in the write-up. Since Rahimafrooz is setting it up and they also manufacture batteries, I think they will also provide minimum battery backup facilities; so that at least some light is available at night.
