Apple has unveiled the AirPods 5, introducing stronger active noise cancellation, upgraded sound, new Siri AI capabilities and Live Translation to its standard open-ear earbuds.

Apple says the new AirPods can remove up to 50% more external noise than AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation, using a redesigned multiport acoustic architecture and updated computational audio. The earbuds also include an improved Transparency mode, Adaptive Audio and Conversation Awareness.

AirPods 5 feature a new acoustic design and next-generation Adaptive EQ, while Apple has expanded hands-free AI functions for users with compatible iPhones. Siri AI can use information from messages, emails and photos to answer questions or perform tasks, while users can respond to Siri by nodding or shaking their head.

The earbuds also support Live Translation, allowing users to hear conversations translated into their preferred language when paired with a compatible Apple Intelligence device.

Apple is offering two versions. The standard AirPods 5 cost $129, while the $149 model with a wireless charging caseadds on-stem volume controls and longer battery support.

The wireless charging version provides up to five hours of listening with ANC enabled and up to 22 hours with the charging case, according to Apple. The case supports USB-C, Qi wireless charging and Apple Watch chargers.
