Australia cancel Bangladesh’s tour for financial reasons

Australia are set to visit Bangladesh in August to play a five-match T20 series in order to prepare better for the T20 World Cup.

The five-match campaign is set to take place immediately after Australia's white-ball tour of the Caribbean, where the Aussies will take on the two-time T20 World Cup champions West Indies in five T20s and three ODIs, Cricket Australia website reported.

The dates and venues are yet to be confirmed. The series was originally scheduled to contain three T20s but has now been extended to five matches across nine days.

Australia were set to tour Bangladesh last year for two Tests before it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The T20 World Cup is slated for October but the tournament may be moved if India is unable to overcome a devastating second wave of the novel coronavirus.
