Yasir, Mushy guide Dhaka to first win after Robi’s four-fer

Mushfiqur Rahim's Beximco Dhaka celebrated their first win of the Bangabandhu T20 tournament, defeating Tamim Iqbal's Fortune Barishal by seven wickets at Mirpur's Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

Robiul Islam Robi's turned hero with the ball for Dhaka as his four-fer saw Barishal restricted to 108 for eight. However, Dhaka's tentative batting almost made the task look difficult.

Chasing 109 for victory, Dhaka got off to a stuttering start as first Robiul Islam Robi (2 off 12) was unfortunately run out after a Naim Sheikh was dropped by spinner Tanvir Islam off his own bowling but the ball crashed onto the stumps at the non-striker's end with Robiul out of his crease.

Naim then departed after a calamitous run-out following miscommunication with Mushfiqur. Tanzid Hasan Tamim came in and played a few shots to get the wheels moving during his 20-ball 22 before falling to Mehedi Hasan Miraz, out leg-before.

Requiring 55 from eight overs, Yasir Ali ensured there was no more hitches, hitting an unbeaten 30-ball 44, laced with three fours and two sixes during an unbeaten 55-run stand with Mushfiqur as Dhaka eased to victory with seven deliveries to spare. Mushfiqur remained unbeaten on 23 off 34 deliveries.

Earlier, another poor batting display saw Fortune Barishal manage a below par total against Beximco Dhaka.

Sent to bat first, Tamim Iqbal-led Barishal lost Saif Hassan for nine and Parvez Emon and Afif Hossain for naught -- all bagged by spinner Robiul Islam Robi -- inside seven overs. Tamim fell after a run-a-ball 31 and Barishal's fortunes never really resurrected after that as another slump saw Irfan Shukkur fall cheaply after scoring three.

Towhid Hridoy struck a run-a-ball 33 before departing in the 19th over as the innings never gathered momentum. Robiul was the pick of the bowlers with four for 20 in four overs while left-arm paceman Shafiqul Islam bagged two.
