BCB considering Sri Lanka tour for HP team
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) High Performance unit held a meeting today at the BCB headquarters where they discussed the resumption of the HP program and about their upcoming tours.
The chairman of HP Naimur Rahman mentioned they are considering a possible tour to Sri Lanka.
"If we go to Sri Lanka, we need to prepare for that beforehand. The series could be hosted here or even in Sri Lanka. We have discussed this and we will also contact the Sri Lanka cricket board about how they can make the arrangements for the tour," said Naimur.
The position of the coach of the HP team remained vacant since Simon Helmot resigned from his post after completing his three-year contract with the BCB in December last year. Naimur mentioned that they are now communicating with the shortlisted candidates for the post.
"We made a shortlist of coaches who showed their interest in becoming the coach of the HP team. We will communicate with them and know about their availability as the candidates actually showed interest before the pandemic so we need to know if they are still interested.
"We are also thinking about starting the HP program. But the situation is now different. If we consider arranging a camp in the academy then we have to think about players' accommodation, their catering, security and their safety in the current situation. We have already discussed this and we will meet again to discuss everything in the coming days," concluded Naimur.
