BCB 'not contacted by ICC' over Javed issue
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury denied receiving any sorts of directives from the International Cricket Council (ICC) over keeping Javed Omar away from any sorts of involvement with the BCB.
A news in a local newspaper claimed that a close BCB source informed that Javed, who served as Bangladesh women's team manager in the Women's T20 World Cup in Australia this year, has traded women team's inside information during his stay with the team in Australia. And hence the ICC has instructed the BCB to not involve Javed with the BCB in any sorts of official posts.
However, the BCB CEO Nizamuddin denied receiving any such instructions from the ICC.
"We have not been communicated any such informations by the ICC. Actually the thing is if ICC communicates any such news then they would have communicated it either with me or the board president [Nazmul Hassan]. And as I said, I have not received any such instructions," said Nizamuddin to The Daily Star today.
Nizamuddin also informed that the board does not feel the need of inquiring anything regarding this as ICC has not communicated any such instruction in the first place.
"Actually there is nothing to inquire about. We have not received any instructions from the ICC and we do not think there is anything to inquire here," concluded Nizamuddin.
Meanwhile, when contacted, Javed said that he was very upset after coming to know about such baseless news in the media. However, he refused to make any official remarks on the matter.
"The news had no reference. So yes, I am upset about it. But I do not want to say anything regarding this matter," said Javed.
