Farhad’s cameo seals Doleshwar win

Prime Doleshwar skipper Farhad Reza's heroics during a steep run chase, handed his side a four-wicket win against Shinepukur Cricket Club in the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium today.

Shinepukur got off to a brisk start thanks to Sabbir Hossain's 19-ball 36 and Tanzid Hasan Tamim's 16-ball 25 as the duo put on 49 runs in 4.3 overs before the latter departed to Shamim Hossain. Robiul Islam struck 34 off 36 while Mahidul Islam Ankon's 32-ball 44, laced with three fours and two sixes helped Shinepukur to 162 for 7.

In reply, Doleshwar were not off to the best of starts with two wickets down in 5.4 overs and only 29 runs on the board. Saif Hassan (50 off 35) and Fazle Rabbi (41 off 33) had other ideas as they begin to take the attack to the bowlers. However, once the duo departed and Shamim fell for 22, Dolshwar needed 18 off the last seven deliveries. Farhad Reza put his long handle to good use, sending the last ball of the penultimate over from Mohor Sheikh flying for six over long on. In the last over, he got the strike in the second delivery and proceeded to hit a bigger six over long on off Sumon Khan. He hit the third and fourth delivery of the over for four to guide his side to a four-wicket win with a cameo 11-ball 27.
