Last-ball leave hands Brothers victory over Old DOHS

Star Sports Report

Extraordinary events transpired in the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 League match between Brothers Union and Old DOHS as the latter's batsman Pritom Kumar left the last delivery alone while needing three for the win. The extraordinary leave resulted in Brothers winning by two runs at BKSP today.

Batting first, Brothers succumbed to early pressure and lost four wickets for 48 runs in 10 overs before Mysukur Rahman's battling 68 off 48 not out helped them to 139 for five. Rakin Ahmed (33 off 31) and Anisul Islam Emon gave them a strong start in chase and the latter's departure in the penultimate over after a 50-ball 64, laced with three fours and four sixes, saw Old DOHS needing 8 runs from seven deliveries.

With eight wickets in hand, Old DOHS should have reached the target comfortably. Mahmudul Hasan Joy fell in the final over after a 33-ball 34 and then with three required in the final delivery, Pritom Kumar left the wide yorker from Sujon Hawlader alone, expecting it to be a wide. Umpire for the match Ali Arman however did not signal a wide as Brothers won by two runs to pick up their second win in the tournament.
