Mahmudullah’s 45 helps Khulna to 146/8

Gemcon Khulna's batting lineup once again failed to ignite properly as they were restricted to 146 for eight by Mushfiqur Rahim's Beximco Dhaka in the day's second game at Mirpur today.

Sent in to bat, Shakib Al Hasan was promoted up the order but early wickets stifled Khulna once again with Shakib castled by Rubel Hossain delivery in the fourth over. Anamul Haque (5) and Jahurul Islam (4) fell cheaply either side of Shakib's wicket before Imrul Kayes and captain Mahmudullah Riyad starred in a 56-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Imrul's 29 off 27 knck ended after falling prey to Nayeem Hasan and Riyad batted conservatively for his 47-ball 45 before falling to Rubel in the final over. Rubel was the pick of the bowlers with three for 28 in four overs while youngster Shafiqul Islam bagged two for 34 in four overs.
