Miraz’s all-round show, Jahurul fifty help Khelaghar win
Fifty from skipper Jahurul Islam and an all-round performance from Mehedi Hasan Miraz, who too scored a crucial fifty, helped Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity register a seven-wicket victory over Legends of Rupganj in a slow Mirpur pitch during their Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 League encounter today.
The slowness of the pitch, probably due to the overexposure and lack of rest in between games lended to the pitch, was once again evident in today's game at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium as Rupganj batsmen found it difficult to score runs after being asked to bat.
Miraz, the current number two ODI bowler, made use of the condition well and returned miserly figures of one for 20 in his four overs. However, a fifty from Al Amin and a handy 21-ball 23 from Sabbib Rahman helped Rupganj post a competitive 138 for five.
In chase of a mediocre total, Khelaghar found themselves in a tough spot when they lost both openers -- Imtiaz Hossain and Sadikur Rahman -- for just 25 runs after 4.1 overs. But from there on, Miraz and skipper Jahurul stitched together a crucial 97-run third-wicket stand to revive Khelaghar's innings following the initial slump.
Miraz fell prey to Muktar Ali in the 18th over after a 45-ball 54, laced with six fours and a maximum, but Jahurul remained unbeaten on 53 to steer his side over the line with three balls and seven wickets to spare.
