Star Sports Report

Following a successful ODI series against Sri Lanka in May, Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has been nominated for the ICC Player of the Month for May, 2021.

Mushfiqur played a pivotal role in Bangladesh's first-ever bilateral series win against Sri Lanka last month. Bangladesh won the three-match series 2-1 and Mushfiqur was the highest run-getter in the series with 237 runs at an average of 79 and a strike rate of 88.43.

Apart from Mushfiqur, the other two players are Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali and Sri Lanka's left-arm spinner Praveen Jayawickrama.

Pakistan's Hasan took a total of 14 wickets in two Tests against Zimbabwe while Jayawickrama had a dream debut in international cricket. The Sri Lankan left-arm spinner ended with match figures of 11 for 178, best by a Sri Lankan on debut, in the second Test against Bangladesh.
