One from U-19 squad tests positive
Iftekhar Hossain, one cricketer from the 45-member Bangladesh Under-19 squad selected for a residential camp, tested positive for coronavirus after the second batch of the Under-19 cricketers were tested for the virus today.
The selectors had announced a 45-member Under-19 squad who will take part in a residential training camp from August 23 to September 18 with the BCB starting the coronavirus tests from Sunday. The first batch of 15 cricketers and 12 support staff, tested on Sunday, were all found negative for coronavirus and were sent to BKSP.
Today, the second batch of 15 cricketers were tested and Iftekhar was the only one who tested positive. Iftekhar has now been kept in Isolation at the BCB Academy. The cricketer from Barishal will be quarantined for seven days from today during which period he will be monitored by the BCB medical team.
The third group of cricketers will be tested tomorrow.
