Parvez out of preliminary ODI squad as old injury resurfaces
Young left-handed batsman Parvez Hossain Emon has been ruled out of Bangladesh's preliminary ODI squad for the upcoming three-match home series against West Indies.
The uncapped cricketer has been suffering from an old groin injury that resurfaced yesterday, eventually ruling him out of the 24-member squad for the series.
National selector Habibul Bashar confirmed Parvez's case to the media today.
"He is suffering from an old groin injury. He was taken to the hospital which means he had to go out of the bio-secure bubble. So, now he will have to be in three-day isolation and will also require some time to recover. This is why we thought of not keeping him in the squad further. We will not bring in a replacement for now," informed Bashar.
According to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief physician, the 18-year-old has been suffering from the groin injury in the past and he is advised to rest for a week which is the reason he had to check-out from the team hotel.
