Saif tests positive for coronavirus

Star Online Report

Bangladesh batsman Saif Hassan tested positive for coronavirus after national team players underwent Covid-19 tests on Monday as part of BCB's coronavirus management plan to ensure cricketers' safety.

The BCB are yet to officially confirm the news but sources close to the BCB informed that Saif and a team support staff tested positive for coronavirus.

Members of the Bangladesh national team have been undergoing individual training across BCB facilites since before Eid-ul-Azha.

Individual training of the players came to a halt from Friday after several members of the support staff exhibited coronavirus-like symptoms. The individual sessions at SBNCS will resume from September 9 (Wednesday) with the players who have tested negative.

"We had decided that we will pause even if there were any signs of imminent danger. Quite a few people are showing symptoms so we will suspend activities for a few days," BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury had told The Daily Star regarding the suspension of individual practice after training was paused.

The Tigers will play their first international series following the outbreak of coronavirus and BCB's plan is to keep the players safe for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka and that is why group training has not begun yet. The players are expected to begin group training once they move to Sri Lanka.
