Shakib’s Mohammedan clinch close game

Shakib Al Hasan contributed with bat and ball as Mohammedan Sporting Club won their opening fixture of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 League today match at BKSP against Shinepukur Cricket Club but it took last ditch heroics from Abu Haider Rony to seal victory.

Shakib bagged two wickets for 29 runs in his four overs while Yeasin Arafat also claimed two wickets for 24 runs as Mohammedan restricted Shinepukur to 125 for 6.

Parvez Hossain Emon blazed a 33-ball 39 before departing to a run out and Shakib came in to keep Mohammedan on track during a 22-ball 29, laced with two fours and a six. Then Mohammedan innings suddenly trembled following Shakib's departure. Four wickets fell in the space of 11 deliveries as Mohammedan went down to 117 for seven. Six runs were required in the last over and then with three needed off last two deliveries, Abu Haider Rony hit Mrittunjoy for six to seal victory.
