Shanto-Naim fightback not enough as Abahani lose for the first time

Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity defeated Abahani Limited to win by eight runs in the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 League match at BKSP, thanks to a 46-ball 66 from Imtiaz Hossain, laced with six fours and three sixes.

Despite Imtiaz's smashing knock, only Mehedi Hasan Miraz was able to contribute to a challenging score, hitting 33 off 25 as Khelaghar reached 164 for six.

Mosaddek Hossain and Arafat Sunny bagged two wickets each while Mohammad Saifuddin scalped one.

Abahani lost two wickets inside three overs which included the big wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim before Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mohammad Naim started the fightback  with a 85-run third-wicket stand.

Shanto however departed after a 33-ball 49, laced with seven fours and a six while Khaled Ahmed castled Naim in the 15th over after a 42-ball 49. Mosaddekh's 21 off 19 and Afif Hossain's 22 off 18 were in the end not enough as Abahani reached 156 for five. Rony Chowdhury and Khaled bagged two wickets each. Following their first loss in the tournament, Abahani are currently third in the table with six points from three matches.
