Thanks to Bangladesh ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal's help, leg-spinner Aminul Islam yesterday was finally able to get his sick father Abdul Kuddus admitted at the National Heart Foundation Hospital and Research Institute in Mirpur after the patient, showing symptoms of coronavirus, had been rejected by a number of hospitals in the capital.

Aminul said that he had been trying to get his father, who was suffering from breathing problems -- a major symptom of coronavirus -- admitted to different hospitals for the past two days but was rejected every time. However, finally, yesterday with Tamim's help, the national leg-spinner was able to get his sick father admitted to a hospital in Mirpur.

"My father has been sick for a few days. We were also trying to get him admitted to hospitals after his condition worsened. None of the hospitals agreed to take him in as he had breathing problems. Then we went to Central National Hospital in Shyamoli. They also did not agree to take him in but they did some tests. The tests revealed that he had some problems in his heart too and they told us to admit him to the Heart Foundation in Mirpur.

"And when we took him to the Heart Foundation hospital, even they were not very eager to take him in saying there were no available seats. I was very afraid as I had contacted and went to a number of hospitals but none would take him in. After that, I called Tamim Bhai and our team manager Sabbir [Khan] bhai while I was in Heart Foundation, still uncertain if they would take my father. I explained everything to them and Tamim bhai managed everything for his admission in the hospital," Aminul told The Daily Star.

The 20-year-old leg spinner, who was one of the 27 cricketers who donated 50 per cent of their March salaries for the coronavirus foundation, informed that the hospital in the morning today took samples of his father for the coronavirus test.
