Tamim only player to lead run charts in all three formats for a country

Bangladesh left-handed opener Tamim Iqbal has now become the only cricketer in the world to have scored the most runs in all three formats -- Tests, ODIs and T20Is -- for a country.

Tamim, who was already the leading run-scorer for Bangladesh in ODIs and T20Is, surpassed wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim as the most run-getter in Tests during the Tigers' ongoing Test against the West Indies at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram today. The left-hander achieved the feat in the fourth over of the game when he flicked a Shannon Gabriel delivery in front of square leg to take a single.

The 31-year-old was however dismissed in the following over off a Kemar Roach delivery after scoring a 15-ball nine.

Playing in his 61st Test for Bangladesh, Tamim has now scored 4414 runs with nine centuries, eight fifties and a double-ton in Tests for Bangladesh. Mushfiqur, who has scored 4413 runs in 70 Tests with seven hundreds, 21 fifties and two double tons, will however have the chance to go back to being the leading run-scorer for Bangladesh in Tests when the 33-year-old will come on to bat in the ongoing Test against the West Indies.

But for now, Tamim boasts the record of being the only cricketer to top the most run-getters' charts in all three formats for a country. In 210 ODIs, Tamim scored 7360 runs with 13 hundreds and 49 fifties and the southpaw scored 1701 runs in 74 T20Is with seven fifties and one century for Bangladesh.
