Tamim, Shadman shine in second two-dayer
Although it was just a practice match, Tamim Iqbal and Shadman Islam still had reasons to smile on a gloomy day in Mirpur today. Chasing a revised target of 200 in 45 overs owing to early morning drizzle, both Tamim and Shadman, playing for the Ryan Cook XI, picked up fifties as they helped their side win by six wickets against Ottis Gibson XI on the second day of their final two-day practice game at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium today.
Shadman, who scored only 13 runs in the first practice match, was glad to have found his rhythm with the 99-ball 83-run knock that he played today.
"I last played against India [in November last year]. In the first practice match, which was my first match in nine or ten months, I could not play well. So I wanted to get my rhythm back through scoring some runs in the second match. I had a very good practice before the matches so I thought if I could just do what I did in the nets then I can make a quick comeback," said Shadman after the game.
Shadman's partner and Bangladesh ODI skipper Tamim also had a decent outing. The southpaw scored 64 off 80 deliveries as he strung together with Shadman a 107-run opening stand. With the foundation laid, Ryan Cook XI won the game in 41.4 overs with six wickets to spare. Spinner Nayeem Hasan took two for 49 runs for the Ottis Gibson XI.
