Tamim, Towhid shine in 50-over practice game
Opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim's run-a-ball 74 and an unbeaten 106-run fifth-wicket stand between Towhid Hridoy and Shamim Patwary helped Team 'B' to clinch a comfortable six-wicket win over Team 'A' in the 50-over intra-squad match among the High Performance cricketers at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today.
Both Hridoy and Shamim struck fifties as they guided Team 'B' to chase down a modest 241-run target with fifteen balls to spare.
But it was Tanzid who laid the foundation at the top. He struck nine fours and two sixes before falling prey to Rakibul Hasan in the 21st over. Later it was Shamim who remained unbeaten for a 68-ball 67 while Hridoy contributed with yet another unbeaten 50 off 79 deliveries.
Earlier, electing to bat, opener Naim Sheikh top-scored with 67 off 69 balls and Afif Hossain struck a fifty as Team 'A' posted 240 for 7 in fifty overs.
Pacer Mukidul Islam and Rejaur Raja bagged two wickets each for Team 'B'.
The HP cricketers under head coach Toby Radford had also played a two-day practise match in their second week of the training camp.
