Tamim's smashing 46 sees Prime Bank seal opening fixture
Tamim Iqbal smashed 46 off 22 deliveries as Prime Bank chased down Gazi Group's 91 for five in a rain-curtailed game to win by seven wickets.
The match was curtailed to 12 overs each side and Mustafizur Rahman bagged Soumya Sarkar (14) and Ariful Haque (6) to finish with two for 21 in three overs. Skipper Mahmudullah Riyad and Akbar Ali departed cheaply and Zakir Hossain's 22-ball 26 and Mominul Haque's four-ball 13 helped Gazi reach 91 for five.
In reply, Tamim went after the Gazi bowlers, hitting two fours and five sixes during a 22-ball 46. Tamim departed in the eighth over, stumped off Mahedi Hasan's delivery. Rony Talukdar followed suit after a 19-ball 25 in the ninth over but Prime Bank comfortable coasted to win with 2.4 overs to spare.
At Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in the afternoon match, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club defeated Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity by 22 runs. Mohammad Ashraful and Saikat Ali's 38-run knocks at the top and Anamul Haque Enam's late four-ball 18-run cameo helped Sheikh Jamal to 166 for six.
In reply, Khelaghar were restricted to 144 for 8 with Mohammad Elias bagging three wickets for Prime Bank.
