Tigers clinch series 3-0 after 120-run win in third ODI
Bangladesh have clinched the ODI series 3-0 after winning the third ODI by 120 runs at Chattogram today. The batsmen did their job with four half centuries from Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad before the bowlers did their task. The West Indies still managed to reach their highest score in this series despite being bowled out for 177. Mohammad Saifuddin bagged three wickets while Mustafizur Rahman and Mehedi Hasan bagged two each. It is another 'banglawash' from the Tigers after returning to international cricket following a gap of eight months due to the pandemic. There was some bad news as all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan had to go off with injury. Shakib will be kept under observation for what appears to be a groin injury.

West Indies are once again struggling at the top of the order as the likes of Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed and Mehedi Hasan Miraz have bowled economically with Fizz and Mehedi also bagging wickets. With Shakib now brought into the attack, the task for the Windies is not about to get any easier. The required run-rate has creeped over seven.

Mayers goes back and tries to work it on the leg side but misses it and the ball goes on to hit him on the pads. Umpire raises his finger following a huge appeal from Bangladesh players. Four stalwarts hit fifties to help Tigers post 297 for six
Four stalwarts -- skipper Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad -- struck fifties as they helped Bangladesh post a commendable 297 for six in the third and final ODI against the West Indies at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram today.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza is the only one among the five stalwarts of Bangladesh that did not play today as the 37-year-old was dropped from the ODI squad for the series. However, all the other four stalwarts shone today as the Tigers look to whitewash a second-tier West Indies side.
Bangladesh had lost two early wickets after being sent to bat. Liton Das was removed by Alzarri Joseph in the very fist over while Najmul Hossain Shanto failed once again at his new number three position as the left-hander departed after a shaky 30-ball 20 in the ninth over.
Tamim and Shakib started rebuilding after the slump as the duo strung together a 93-run third-wicket stand with both the batsmen picking up fifties. Tamim looked solid from the beginning before hitting one straight to the mid-wicket fielder in the 28th over and had to depart after a steady 80-ball 64.
Shakib, who made a return to international cricket following a year-long ban, had been struggling with the bat recently. The premier all-rounder, who showed intent during his unbeaten 43 in the last game, picked up his 48th ODI fifty today. But he fell soon after that as he misjudged a slower from Raymon Reifer and had his stumps removed in the 37th over after an 81-ball 51, featuring three fours.
While Tamim and Shakib took time to score their runs, Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur picked up the run-rate at the latter stage of the game with some good looking shots all around the park. Mushfiqur departed in the 47th over after a 55-ball 64 but Mahmudullah stayed till the end and smashed an unbeaten 43-ball 64, featuring three fours and as many sixes -- with two of the sixes coming in the final over as Bangladesh finished on a high.
49.6 ov BAN 297/6: Mahmudullah Riyad plays it down the ground and takes a double. Bangladesh finish with a commendable 297 for six on the board. Riyad started the over by hitting Keon Harding for a six on the off-side before slapping him over mid-off for another six in the sixth delivery of the over which was eventually ruled as a no for overstepping.
Mushy departs after scoring 64
46.2 ov BAN 251/5: After hitting a six in the previous ball, Mushfiqur Rahim tries to clear the cover fielder but could not connect it properly. Alzarri Joseph takes an easy catch as Mushfiqur departs after a 55-ball 64. Mushfiqur Rahim c Joseph b Reifer 64 (55b 4x4 2x6) SR: 116.36
Mushy hits fifty as Tigers head towards a commendable total
43.3 ov BAN 221/4: Mushfiqur Rahim plays a Alzarri Joseph delivery towards deep mid-wicket and takes a single to bring up his fifty off 47 deliveries. Mushfiqur, who struck three fours and a six on his way to fifty, has looked the most comfortable among the Bangladeshi batsmen today. The Tigers would hope that the 33-year-old and his partner Mahmdullah Riyad stay till the end to help Bangladesh post a commendable total.
Shakib falls soon after hitting fifty
36.4 ov; BAN 179/4: Raymon Reifer bowls a slower one and has Shakib deceived. The left-hander tries to play it on the onside but fails to connect as the ball goes through the gap between his pad and bat and hits the top of his middle stump. Shakib falls soon after scoring a fifty. The premier all-rounder goes for an 81-ball 51, featuring three boundaries.
35.6 ov; BAN 177/3: Shakib Al Hasan works a fuller length delivery from Keon Harding towards short midwicket and takes a single. That brings up his fifty. Shakib, who returned from a year-long ban imposed by the ICC for failing to report corrupt approaches in 2019, has impressed with the ball but was struggling to make a mark with the bat. The premier all-rounder had shown intent with an unbeaten 43 in the last game and now smashed a fifty off 78 deliveries. This would surely help him regain his confidence with the bat.
Tigers bring up 150
31.4 ov; BAN 150/3: Mushfiqur Rahim cuts one towards deep point off a Jason Mohammed delivery and takes a single. That brings up 150 for the Tigers.

Tamim departs after hitting fifty
27.6 ov; BAN 131/3: Alzarri Joseph has been tempting Tamim Iqbal with the short ball for a while now and the bowler gets a reward this time. Tamim tries to hit this one through mid-wicket but it goes straight to the fielder. Tamim departs after a well-played 80-ball 64, featuring three fours and a maximum. Tamim Iqbal c Hosein b Joseph 64 (80b 3x4 1x6) SR: 80
25.1 ov; BAN 112/2: Tamim hits consecutive fifty
Tamim pushed a Jason Mohammed delivery towards deep cover and takes a single to bring up his fifty. Tamim, who departed the next ball after hitting a fifty in the second ODI, would surely like to go on and bat longer today.
Tigers rebuild with Tamim and Shakib
21.6 ov; Ban 98/2: A run from leg bye and that brings up the fifty stand between Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal. The duo have been cautious after the two early wickets but can bank on their abilities to steer Bangladesh to a challenging total having played in numerous match situations like this one.

8.4 ov BAN 38/2: Kyle Mayers coming in from round the wicket angles it in towards the left-hander Najmul Hossain Shanto. The ball hits him on the pads and given out by the umpire following an appeal from West Indies players. Shanto goes for a review and it reveals that the ball would have gone to clip the top of the leg stump. The original decision stays and Shanto departs after a 30-ball 20. Taskin, Saifuddin get nod as Windies elect to bowl
West Indies have won the toss and elected to bowl in the third and final ODI against Bangladesh at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram today.
Both teams made two changes in their squads. For the Tigers, pacers Hasan Mahmud, who had impressed with his bowling in the series, and Rubel Hossain made way for Taskin Ahmed and Mohammad Saifuddin. Taskin will be playing an ODI in Bangladesh colors after more than three years. The right-armer last featured for the Tigers in ODI back in October 2017 against South Africa at Buffalo Park, East London.
Meanwhile, Joshua Da Silva and Andre Mccarthy are replaced by Jahmar Hamilton and Keon Harding in the Windies line-up.
Bangladesh have already wrapped up the series 2-0 by winning the first two games convincingly, bundling out the visitors under 150 on both occasions. And Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal had already mentioned that the Tigers would make very few changes for today's game keeping in mind the 10 points that are up for grabs in the ICC ODI Super League, the pathway for qualification to the 2023 World Cup.
Starting XI:
Bangladesh: Liton Das, Tamim Iqbal (capt), Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Soumya Sarkar, Mahmudullah, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman
