Two in Mashrafe’s family test Covid-19 positive
Two of Mashrafe Bin Mortaza's family members -- his mother-in-law and his wife's niece -- have contracted coronavirus, sources confirmed to The Daily Star today.
"Yes, his mother-in-law has tested positive along with his sister-in-law's daughter. Both are in Narail and are receiving treatment at home," Tariqul Islam Onik, who is Mashrafe's maternal uncle, confirmed.
"We came to know of it via a phone call from an authorized person that Mashrafe's mother-in-law tested positive for coronavirus but we are yet to receive any emails or written paperwork in this regard," Dr. Abdul Momen, civil surgeon of Narail told our Bagerhat correspondent today.
In a video posted from his Narail Express foundation's Facebook page yesterday, Mashrafe was heard saying that all individuals in the household were to be tested for the virus today. He asked health officials whether the particular area could be locked down since a couple others have contracted the virus in the area.
Mashrafe, who is currently in Dhaka, is working from his position as an elected member of parliament to fight the virus in his Narail region. The former ODI captain has also been helping out through his foundation alongside contributing to efforts of other cricketers in this time of crisis.
