‘When will I play a match?’
Bangladesh cricketer Soumya Sarkar has been biding his time at home, doing work on his fitness and analyzing past performances. However, with international cricket once again returning with the England-West Indies series following the coronavirus outbreak, Soumya was eager to get back on to the field himself.
Many of the national team players such as Mushfiqur Rahim, Imrul Kayes, Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Shafiul Islam have returned to individual practice since Saturday with the BCB availing facilities to cricketers to resume activities on an experimental basis. However, Bangladesh are still far away from getting competetive cricket back on the field. Soumya, who is yet to take the field for individual training, was not missing out on live cricket action as he posted a picture of himself watching the second Test between England and West Indies. The series have injected excitement after a few long months away from cricket.
Soumya was eager to play cricket too. "When will I play a match?" – the cricketer wrote on Facebook.
Meanwhile Imrul Kayes today started doing net sessions at BCB's indoor facilities in Mirpur. "It's been almost four months since I held the bat. I feel really good since at home we did gym works but we did not get to bat. Since there is a break in cricket, we can utilize our time to get fitness back and go forward," Imrul said after his session.
