Windies delegate inspect SBNCS

Star Online Report

A delegate from Cricket West Indies today visited the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur to assess the conditions for West Indies' scheduled tour of Bangladesh in January next year.

Yesterday the Windies delegate visited Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. The West Indies were originally scheduled to three Tests, three ODIs and two T20s against Bangladesh but the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) may shorten the tour in order to accommodate the Windies for a shorter time duration.

The series will be finalized depending on the assessment report from the Windies delegate. The assessment report will be filed after the delegations departs Bangladesh on Thursday (Dec 3).

Two different delegates arrived in Bangladesh on November 28 in this regard, to inspect the facilities and the steps taken by the Bangladesh Cricket Board regarding bio-secure environment.

BCB are currently hosting the Bangabandhu T20 Cup and the success of the bio-secure environment during the tournament would go a long way into convincing Windies of touring Bangladesh amid the coronavirus pandemic.
