Windies’ ‘mantra’ to not have doubts against Shakib
West Indies skipper Kraig Brathwaite said that they would have to stick to their individual plans as batsmen and follow up without any doubts on the back of their minds while facing Shakib Al Hasan in the first Test, slated to begin tomorrow.
Shakib picked up four wickets for just eight runs in the first ODI against the visitors and was a difficult prospect for the Windies batsmen throughout the series.
"Obviously, he bowled well [in the ODIs] and had good knocks as well. He is a world class player, especially at home. We saw some footage and I know I have seen footage years before as well.
"As batsman we have specific plans just for us as batsman and we need to trust them and believe in them. That's just the truth. Do what you planned and don't ever doubt it.
"We all know he is a world class player but we've done it before against whichever bowler we come up against so we just have to back our plans," Brathwaite said.
While the Windies skipper did not indulge in revealing his playing eleven for the media, he mentioned that 'the surface looked very dry' and 'spinners will feature on it', both indications that there will be footmarks and rough patches to be exploited pretty early on in the Test match.
