Fizz earns spot in Wisden’s 2025 Men’s T20 Team of the Year
Bangladesh star pacer Mustafizur Rahman has been named in Wisden Cricket Monthly’s 2025 Men’s T20 Team of the Year, following a standout season across international and franchise cricket.
Often referred to as the game’s bible, Wisden selected the XI based on performances in all T20 matches played in 2025, a year marked by a packed international calendar and heavy franchise commitments as teams built towards the 2026 T20 World Cup. The side was chosen by Wisden’s editorial board, taking into account consistency, impact and overall effectiveness throughout the year.
Mustafizur enjoyed a prolific 2025, claiming 59 wickets at an economy rate of 6.78. His bowling average of 18.03 was the best among bowlers who delivered a minimum of 150 overs during the year. No seamer proved more economical than the left-armer, underlining his ability to both restrict runs and strike regularly in the shortest format.
Wisden noted that with the 150-over cut-off in place, no bowler could match Mustafizur’s average in 2025 (18.03), while only Jason Holder bettered his strike rate. “He cut down runs and took wickets throughout the year,” Wisden observed in its assessment.
The team features India’s Abhishek Sharma and England’s Phil Salt as openers, with South Africa’s Dewald Brevis at number three followed by Sam Curran, Donovan Ferreira, Tim David, Sunil Narine and Jason Holder.
In the bowling attack, Mustafizur is joined by New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy and India’s Varun Chakravarthy, completing a formidable T20 XI.
