New book unveiled on women’s cricket in Bangladesh

A new book named 'Meyerao Paare', celebrating the successes and evolution of women's cricket in Bangladesh, was unveiled yesterday during a book unveiling ceremony at Dhaka Club. The book, written by Monowar Anis Khan Minu and edited by sports journalist Shamim Chowdhury, commemorated the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the county's golden jubilee of independence.

Minu, who is the first women member of Bangladesh Cricket Board's executive council said: "In this book, the struggles and successes of the women in cricket were highlighted. I hope the book will be able to play a role in development of women's cricket and attract more women to cricket."

The book details the changing scenario of women's cricket in the country from the beginning till now. It goes into everything going on in women's cricket, behind-the-scenes incidents and also accumulated writings from those involved in women's cricket.

Former President of Bangladesh Cricket Board Saber Hossain Chowdhury, secretary general of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Syed Shahed Reza, former CEO of Asian Cricket Council Syed Ashraful Haque, former president of Bangladesh Women's Sports Association Rafia Akhter Dolly and Tigers' former captain Rakibul Hasan attended the book unveiling and congratulated Minu and Shamim for detailing the true history of women's cricket in Bangladesh.
