Rishad impresses on Big Bash debut
Rishad Hossain caught the eye on his debut in Australia's franchise league, the Big Bash, becoming the second Bangladeshi to do so. Although the leg-spinner did not pick up any wickets, he did an excellent job of containing the runs.
Rishad made his debut for Hobart Hurricanes against Sydney Thunder today in Hobart. He bowled three overs and conceded 18 runs. After winning the toss and opting to bowl, Hobart used Rishad for one over inside the powerplay, with the remaining two overs coming after the powerplay. He did not get to bowl the final over of his quota.
Rishad was introduced during the powerplay. Bowling the fifth over, his first in the Big Bash, the Bangladeshi leg-spinner gave away just six runs. In the seventh over, Cameron Bancroft and Sam Konstas managed only four runs off him. In his third over, Rishad conceded seven runs, including one boundary.
For Hobart, Billy Stanlake picked up three wickets for 34 runs, while Jordan Cross claimed two wickets for 36 runs. Batting first against Rishad and company, Sydney Thunder scored 176 for 6. Bancroft was the top scorer for the side with 61 runs off 44 balls.
