Bangladesh women suffer defeat in final Bangkok warm-up match
Bangladesh played their second and final closed-door practice match against Bangkok Women’s FC at the Alpine Sports Training Camp ground on Sunday as part of their preparations for the upcoming SAFF Women’s Championship 2026.
Although the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) did not disclose the result, it was learned that Peter Butler’s side suffered defeat against the Thai Tier-A league outfit, which featured several national team players.
The women in red and green had won their first warm-up match 2-0 against Kasem Bundit Women’s FC, with Anika Rania and Umelah Marma scoring a goal each.
Head coach Peter Butler expressed satisfaction over arranging two preparation matches alongside the exclusive training camp in Bangkok.
“This is a learning curve and playing these matches will help and support the squad to get them prepared and ready for the upcoming tournament,” Butler told BFF media after the match.
The team will have a recovery session at the hotel on Monday, including gym and swimming sessions in the morning, before resuming training on Tuesday.
Bangladesh will leave Bangkok for Goa, India on May 21, with the SAFF Women’s Championship set to begin on May 25.
