BFF forms committee to select men's head coach

Star Sports Report

The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has reportedly received 300 CVs (curriculum vitae) after floating a circular for the appointment of a new head coach for the senior men’s team, a member of the federation said.

Javier Cabrera, who served as Bangladesh team’s coach for four years, is set to end his long reign at the end of this month, even though BFF's media committee chairman Amirul Islam Babu had recently said that Cabrera was open to applying for the same post.

To streamline the selection process, a four-member committee has been formed to review the applications and prepare a shortlist. The panel will be led by technical committee chairman Kamrul Hasan Hilton and includes former footballers Syed Hasan Kanan and Iqbal Hossain, along with technical director Saiful Bari Titu.

Confirming the development, Hilton told the media: “A four-member special committee has been formed. We will review the coaches’ CVs within this week and prepare a shortlist, which will be submitted to the National Teams Committee. They will then conduct interviews with the selected candidates.”

The BFF executive committee sat for a meeting on Saturday, where head coach's selection was one of the agenda. However, the meeting was concluded without that agenda being discussed, allegedly due to running out of time.

In addition to the head coach, the BFF is also in the process of appointing a goalkeeping coach and a youth team coach, the BFF officials have confirmed.

Bangladesh are scheduled to face San Marino in a friendly on June 5.
