BNP lawmaker Bulu elected Mohammedan president unopposed

Barkat Ullah Bulu, a lawmaker of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has been elected president of Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd unopposed, while 16 directors have also been elected uncontested after other candidates withdrew their nominations on Friday.

“Of the three presidential candidates, two withdrew their candidatures, while 12 candidates also withdrew their nominations for the directors’ posts, leaving one presidential candidate and 16 director candidates unchallenged,” election commissioner Anwarul Haque Helal told The Daily Star.

Helal added that the winners will be officially announced on March 9 during the club’s annual general meeting.

Apart from Bulu, fellow lawmaker Zainul Abedin Farroque and former hockey player Sajed AA Adel were also in the race for the president’s post.

Those elected unopposed as directors are Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan, Mahbub Ul Anam, Mostafa Kamal, Mostaqur Rahman, Masuduzzaman, Enayet Hossain Siraj, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Abul Kalam, Mirza Yeasir Abbas, Zahir Ahmed, SA Salam, Nilufar Chowdhury Mony, Sajed AA Adel, Syed Rumon Bin Wali Sabbir, Mahmud Hasan Khan and Zakir Hossain Chowdhury.
