Dooley drops six players, including two on trial, from ASEAN Cup camp
Bangladesh coach Thomas Dooley has trimmed the preliminary squad of the national football team for the FIFA ASEAN Cup by dropping six players, team manager Amirul Islam Babu confirmed today.
“Six players have so far been excluded,” Babu told The Daily Star today.
The players left out are Syed Quazem Kirmanee, Isa Faisal, Rabbi Hasan Rahul, Taj Uddin, alongside overseas players Yasir Tahmid Hasan and Debojit Sarkar, who joined the camp on trial.
The decision came after almost two weeks of training and one practice match against Fortis FC.
The German-American coach had initially called up 28 footballers who had been playing in the Bangladesh Football League, while several overseas-based players also joined the camp on trial.
Bangladesh are scheduled to leave for Indonesia on September 19 to take part in the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup. They are due to face Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore between September 24 and October 5.
