Shayak Dost struck twice as Brothers Union eased their relegation concerns with a crucial 3-1 victory over Rahmatganj MFS in their Bangladesh Football League match at the Muktijuddho Smriti Stadium on Saturday.

The Pakistani forward took his tally to seven goals for the season after joining the Gopibagh outfit during the mid-season transfer window.

Rahmatganj took the lead through Jayed Ahmed in the 25th minute, but Dost restored parity 10 minutes later after failing to score in his previous two appearances.

Alamgir Khan Gazi put Brothers ahead seven minutes after the restart before Dost sealed the win with his second goal in the 71st minute.

The victory lifted Brothers to 17 points from 16 matches, seven clear of the relegation zone and firmly in seventh place in the 10-team table.

Rahmatganj remained sixth with 19 points.

Meanwhile, defending champions Mohammedan Sporting Club climbed to fifth place with a 2-0 win over Arambagh Krira Sangha at the Shaheed Miraj-Tapan Stadium.

Sourav Dewan and Rahim Uddin scored in the second half to take Mohammedan to 20 points, while Arambagh remained eighth with 14 points, just above the relegation zone.
