The big moves to watch out for before transfer window closes

The summer transfer window is entering its final hours, with several clubs scrambling to complete major deals before the deadline.

The window closes at 11:00pm British Summer Time on Tuesday, September 1, which means clubs and supporters in Bangladesh will have to stay up until 4:00am on Wednesday, September 2, to see whether the biggest moves get over the line.

Among the deals still hanging in the balance are some of the biggest names in European football, with Julian Alvarez, Enzo Fernandez and Cody Gakpo all potentially on the move.

Here are the transfers to watch as the deadline approaches.

Where will Julian Alvarez go?

Julian Alvarez could be involved in the biggest deal of the window if Arsenal can prise him away from Atletico Madrid.

The Argentina striker wants to leave Atletico, but the Spanish club have been reluctant to sell him to Barcelona and would prefer to do business with Arsenal.

The Gunners have maintained a long-standing interest in the 26-year-old and are monitoring the situation closely, although Atletico are demanding around €150m (£128m).

Diego Simeone has insisted he will do everything possible to make Alvarez feel important at Atletico, but Arsenal remain a potential destination if the clubs can agree a fee.

Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City?

Another huge Premier League move could involve Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

The Argentina international was left out of Chelsea's win over Brighton as uncertainty surrounding his future increased, with Manchester City exploring a move.

City have lost Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Nico Gonzalez and Tijjani Reijnders this summer and manager Enzo Maresca knows the midfield needs strengthening.

Fernandez is a player Maresca knows well from their time together at Chelsea, making him an attractive option.

Any deal would be enormous and could eclipse the £116m City paid for Elliot Anderson earlier this summer to become a club-record signing.

Gakpo caught between City and Spurs

Cody Gakpo is another Liverpool player whose future could be decided in the final hours.

Manchester City have opened talks with Liverpool over the Netherlands international, who is understood to be open to the move.

City are prepared to offer around £85m, while Tottenham are also interested.

Liverpool, however, are not simply looking to cash in. They would reportedly want to bring in another attacking player before sanctioning Gakpo's departure, with Bradley Barcola also on their radar.

The situation could therefore trigger a chain reaction before the deadline.

Liverpool turn to Ismaila Sarr

Liverpool have already had two bids for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh rejected and have now turned their attention to Crystal Palace's Ismaila Sarr.

The Reds initially made an approach for the Senegal international last week, but Palace rejected it.

Sarr's profile makes him an obvious alternative to Minteh, with the 28-year-old capable of operating from the right and bringing pace and directness to Liverpool's attack.

Whether Liverpool can convince Palace to sell remains one of the key questions of deadline day.

Richarlison and Ndiaye swap all but done

Tottenham and Everton could be involved in one of the more intriguing deals before the window closes.

Spurs are in advanced talks to sign Iliman Ndiaye from Everton, while Richarlison could move in the opposite direction.

A deal for Ndiaye is largely agreed, although Manchester City have also shown an interest in the 26-year-old.

Everton are prepared to sell after Ndiaye rejected several contract offers and held talks with Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal earlier this summer.

At the same time, Everton have agreed terms in principle to bring back Richarlison, who has made it clear to Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi that he wants to leave.

A deal involving the two clubs would give the deadline a major twist.

Grealish wants Everton return

Jack Grealish could also remain on the move, with Everton increasingly confident of bringing him back from Manchester City.

The England international spent last season on loan at Goodison Park and has prioritised another move to Everton, despite interest from his boyhood club Aston Villa.

The complication is that Grealish is entering the final year of his City contract, making the exact structure of a new loan deal difficult to negotiate.

Still, Everton are pushing and Grealish's preference could prove decisive.

Newcastle chasing Fernandez-Pardo

Newcastle are not finished either.

Manager Matthias Jaissle wants another attacking player and has a long-standing interest in Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo.

The 21-year-old's ability to play in several positions across the frontline fits Newcastle's recruitment strategy, while his age makes him an attractive long-term option.

Lille manager Davide Ancelotti left Fernandez-Pardo out of the squad for the weekend's match against Paris Saint-Germain and has excluded him from training until the window closes.

That has only increased speculation that a late deal could be possible, although negotiations would have to move quickly.

Zirkzee to Juventus?

Manchester United's deadline-day business could centre on Joshua Zirkzee.

Fiorentina explored a loan deal for the Netherlands forward with an option to buy, but United would prefer either a permanent transfer or a loan containing an obligation to buy.

With no agreement reached, Fiorentina have moved on.

Juventus are now interested, but their pursuit of Zirkzee depends on Jonathan David leaving for Atletico Madrid.

Should Zirkzee depart Old Trafford, United could then look to strengthen elsewhere, potentially through another loan deal.

Chelsea could make another move

Chelsea's transfer window has already been one of the busiest in Europe, but there could still be more movement before the deadline.

Lamine Camara has emerged as a potential midfield target, particularly if Fernandez leaves for Manchester City.

The Monaco midfielder has already made 49 appearances for Senegal and could provide another option in the middle of the pitch.

Chelsea have also been dealing with a long list of potential departures, including Mykhailo Mudryk, Pedro Neto and Tosin Adarabioyo, while several younger players could leave on loan or permanently.

With the Blues already having completed a huge number of deals this summer, the final hours could provide another chapter in an extraordinary transfer window.

The final day of the window is rarely predictable, and several of these deals are dependent on other moves happening first.
