Rakibul one step from becoming Bangladesh’s first UCI Level-2 cycling coach

Bangladesh national cycling champion Rakibul Islam is set to become the country’s first Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Level-2 certified cycling coach.

Rakibul, who is also a Guinness World Record holder, will travel to Chiang Mai, Thailand to sit for the final examination of the prestigious coaching programme scheduled from March 13 to 18, 2026. He secured a fully funded scholarship to participate in the elite course.

The UCI Level-2 coaching programme is designed to train high-performance cycling coaches and is considered one of the most advanced professional certifications in the sport. Rakibul has spent the past six months preparing for the programme and has already completed the preliminary courses and qualification requirements.

Speaking about the opportunity, Rakibul said, “I am honoured to represent Bangladesh in this new capacity.”

He added that his aim was to bring the knowledge and expertise gained from the international programme back to Bangladesh and help develop the next generation of cyclists.
