Star Sports Report

Mishu Biswas delivered a standout performance at Ironman Jacksonville, further cementing his place among Bangladesh’s top endurance athletes.

Competing on May 16 in Florida, USA, against a field of nearly 2000 participants from around the globe, Biswas was the only athlete representing Bangladesh. He produced an outstanding performance to finish 17th in his age-group category.

Clocking an overall time of 10 hours, 51 minutes, and 53 seconds, Biswas recorded a personal best.

He completed the 3.8 km swim in 1 hour and 10 minutes, followed by a strong 5 hour and 35 minute bike segment. Despite the punishing conditions, he maintained his momentum during the marathon and crossed the finish line after a 3 hour and 50 minute run.

The race was widely considered one of the toughest editions due to severe weather conditions. Athletes battled temperatures close to 90°F combined with nearly 90% humidity. Strong headwinds and crosswinds made the bike course especially demanding, while the rolling and hilly marathon route added to the challenge.

Reflecting on the achievement, Biswas said the race carried deep personal meaning for him.

“This was more than just another Ironman,” he said. “The last two years have been mentally and emotionally difficult, and there were times when I doubted whether I would ever return to Ironman racing. To come back with a personal best and placed 17th in my age group in a North American race from Bangladesh is incredibly special for me.”

He also spoke about the pride of representing Bangladesh internationally.

“No matter how difficult the conditions become, representing Bangladesh always motivates me to keep pushing forward,” he added.
