Battle of the bashers

West Indies' Chris Gayle and England's Jason Roy will lead the charge for their respective teams today in the final, being the most explosive batsmen in line-ups filled with their kind. The big Jamaican has an unbelievable yet unsurprising strike rate of 194.64 in the ICC World Twenty20 while Roy has been more consistent at the still-breakneck speed of 151.24.

Gayle hit a 47-ball century in the group match against England, and has not done much since, so he will be raring to go in the final today, knowing that a Gayle special will likely put the match beyond question.

On the other hand, although Roy has not quite reached the heights his West Indian counterpart has, he has given England blazing starts on most occasions -- most notably in the chases against South Africa in the group stage and against New Zealand in the semifinal. Both embody the fearlessness that characterise their teams and will be crucial to their chances today.
