Bangladesh mission in Kolkata launches MRV
Bangladesh mission in Kolkata today launched machine readable visas (MRV) to relax the visa procedures for people of the neighbouring India.
In the experimental phase, the deputy high commission in West Bengal received around 100 applications through online, officials at the mission said.
The mission will start issuing the MRVs by the next two weeks, they added.
Usually, the mission can issue 300 to 450 visas manually every day but the officials hoped that the figure will be almost double through the MRV process.
Now, Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi, assistant high commission in Agartala and deputy high commission in Mumbai are issuing MRVs.
Mofakkharul Islam, first secretary (press) at Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, told The Daily Star that the total via procedures will be conducted through digitally now.
