Zant Accessories to invest Tk 80 crore in National Special Economic Zone
Zant Accessories Limited today signed a land lease agreement with the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (Beza) to set up an export-oriented industrial unit in the National Special Economic Zone (NSEZ).
The company plans to invest around Tk 80 crore to establish the facility on 5 acres of land.
The proposed factory will produce polyurethane foam, polyethylene foam, recycled foam, mattresses, pillows, comforters, and shoe insoles, according to a press release from Beza.
A large portion—about 90 percent—of the raw materials will be imported from China, South Korea, the UAE, and Malaysia.
The company aims to begin commercial production by May 2027.
The project is designed to be environment-friendly, with minimal water and electricity consumption and no use of gas, according to the company.
At a ceremony held at Beza’s office in Dhaka, Saleh Ahmed, executive member for investment promotion at Beza, signed the agreement with Md Tafazzal Hossain, chairman of Zant Accessories Limited.
Ahmed said the initiative reflects Beza’s commitment to encouraging sustainable and green industrialisation.
He expressed hope that such ventures would attract more domestic and foreign investors to the NSEZ.
Zant Accessories, which already operates a facility in the Karnaphuli Export Processing Zone, said the new investment aligns with its goal of promoting sustainable industrial development, protecting the environment, and enhancing skilled human resources.
Currently, 17 factories are operational in the National SEZ, while 24 more are under construction.
