After DU, CU restricts outsider entry during FIFA World Cup
After Dhaka University (DU), the authorities of Chittagong University (CU) have imposed restrictions on the entry of outsiders and tightened controls on the movement of private vehicles on campus during the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The decision was announced in a notice signed by CU Proctor Hossain Shahid Sarwardi today.
According to the notice, only vehicles bearing CU stickers will be allowed entry into the campus between June 25 and July 20. However, emergency service vehicles, including ambulances, vehicles carrying doctors and patients, journalists, food suppliers, online shopping delivery services, and other government vehicles, will remain exempt from the restriction.
The movement of all other vehicles will remain restricted during this period.
The university authorities have also decided to keep the main campus gates closed daily from 11:00pm to 7:00am.
To ensure security, students have been requested to carry their university identity cards or bank payment slips at all times while staying on campus.
The administration also urged individuals who are not affiliated with the university to use alternative roads instead of travelling through the residential areas adjacent to the university's north and south campuses.
The measures have been taken as part of heightened security arrangements surrounding the World Cup, the notice added.
