DU Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed resigns

Dhaka University (DU) Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed has resigned from his post.

He submitted his resignation letter to the university's Vice-Chancellor ABM Obaidul Islam today.

Confirming the development to The Daily Star, Saifuddin said he decided to step down from the position due to "personal reasons."

"I need some rest. I have been away from academic responsibilities for quite a long time. I want to return to academia," he said.

Confirming that the resignation letter had been submitted, Vice-Chancellor ABM Obaidul Islam said, "We will make a decision regarding the proctor's post very soon."

Saifuddin had assumed the role of proctor on August 28, 2024, following the fall of the Awami League government.

Saifuddin is serving as an associate professor in the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies, DU.
