China agrees to construct two more bridges
China has agreed to construct two more friendship bridges in Bangladesh, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said yesterday.
The bridges would be built in Barguna's Amtoli and in Patuakhali's Golachipa and named the ninth and tenth Bangladesh-China Friendship bridges respectively, he said.
Visiting Chinese Commerce Minister Gao Hucheng yesterday handed over the documents and certificate of the seventh Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge over the Arial Kha river on Madarur-Shariatpur-Chandpur Highway to the road transport and bridges ministry. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the bridge on August 20 through a videoconference.
Quader said the construction process of the eighth China-Bangladesh Friendship Bridge over the Kocha river in Pirojpur has already started.
