Court indicts three for beating dog
A Dhaka court yesterday accepted charges against three youths in a case filed for beating up a stray dog with shovels in the capital's Rampura on June 16.
The accused are Shovon, 19, Johny and Imran Mridha, both 18.
Rubaiya Ahmad, founder of animal welfare foundation, Obhoyaronno, filed a case on June 18 against the three under the Cruelty to Animals Act 1920.
Police arrested them on July 8, but all three got bail on July 13.
On August 3, Sub-Inspector Jasim Uddin of Rampura Police and also the investigation officer submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka.
