Cuta declares 1hr strike for 3 days for equal pay with govt bureaucrats

Chittagong University Teachers' Association (Cuta) yesterday announced that they would observe work abstention from 11:00am to 12:00noon for three days starting from today, demanding same salaries and allowances for professors and secretaries.

Cuta General Secretary SM Khosrul Alam Quddusi said the status of professors was two notches below that of secretaries in the proposed eighth payscale, so there would be differences of benefits.

Cuta also called for restoration of time scale and selection grade if the proposed payscale does not ensure same benefits for professors and secretaries.
