Govt absorbs 1,233 DTE employees

The government has absorbed 1,233 employees working in 64 technical school and colleges (TSCs) under the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) over a decade even after completion of their project period, officials said.

They said the government had appointed these employees in the TSCs under a project "Establishing 13 New Vocational Training Institute (VTI) and Renovation -- Modernization of 51 Existing VTI" to improve the quality of technical education and they were continuing to do so after the end of the project period on June 30 in 2004.
