Govt working for peaceful, prosperous future for children
The government wants to make Bangladesh such a country where every child would grow up as a worthy citizen and get a peaceful and prosperous life, said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday.
She also hoped that today's children would be brilliant in education and enlightened with moral virtues as well as sound knowledge in science and technology.
The prime minister was addressing a function organised at Gono Bhaban in the capital to distribute prizes among the winners of drawing and essay writing competitions on Bangabandhu's birth anniversary. Jatir Janak Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust organised the competitions on the 92nd, 93rd, 94th and 95th birth anniversaries of the father of the nation.
Sheikh Rehana, younger daughter of Bangabandhu and vice-chairperson of the trust, was also present. President of Bangabandhu museum artist Hashem Khan, Member Secretary of Bangabandhu Memorial Trust Sheikh Hafizur Rahman and Executive Officer of the trust Mashura Hossain also spoke.
Hasina, also president of the memorial trust, distributed prizes and certificates among 150 winners.
