Legal clerks to get recognition
The government will enact a law very soon to give professional recognition to advocates' clerks in the country, Law Minister Anisul Huq said yesterday.
The minister made the announcement at the fourth convention of Bangladesh Advocate Clerks Association on the Supreme Court premises.
"I will take all necessary steps to pass the law as early as possible," Anisul Huq said, adding that the recognition of advocate clerks is needed to drive out frauds from court premises.
Addressing the programme, Food Minister Qamrul Islam said the judiciary of the country is fully independent now.
Earlier, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Fazle Rabbi Miah inaugurated the convention, while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, senior lawyers Rafiq-Ul Huq, Abdul Baset Majumder, Rokonuddin Mahmud, and Zainul Abedin, and Supreme Court Bar Association Secretary AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon, among others, spoke.
