Newspaper workers, employees demand 9th wage board

The Bangladesh Federal Union of Newspaper Press Workers, and Bangladesh Newspaper Workers Federation yesterday hailed the government for approving the eighth national payscale with a salary hike and demanded formation of the ninth wage board for journalists, employees and workers in the newspaper industry.

The demand was made from a joint meeting of the two federations at the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Employees Union's office in the capital to cope with the increased prices of essentials, said a press release. They strongly demanded a government notification announcing a 100 percent dearness allowance until implementation of the new wage board award.
