SCBA protests chief justice's remarks
The Supreme Court Bar Association yesterday protested the chief justice's remarks on lawyers.
Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha at a programme on Saturday said the justice seekers got defeated in 60 to 70 percent of the cases only due to flaws made by the lawyers.
SCBA Secretary AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon at a press conference at its auditorium said the chief justice's remark is "incorrect." He said five lawyers of the association, led by him, yesterday met the chief justice at his Supreme Court office and expressed a "humble protest" against his comment.
Yesterday, the SCBA secretary told journalists that the state does not help
lawyers in their training. He alleged that many "incompetent" people have been made judges of the apex court on political consideration.
He, however, said meritorious students are appointed as lower court judges.
Justice Sinha at the event also said, "A lawyer is the architect of a case. A case will be designed as per the wish of the lawyer." He said some lawyers don't pay much attention to the information given by his or her clients.
